Up to now, I have got the chances to put my steps on 47 provinces in Vietnam, in which, the first place is my hometown where I was born and grow up. Some of them are the working and living places in certain periods of time; some are the visiting destinations but just a small part of them. To answer Vietnam where to go, let’s check the following list. It states my favorable destinations that I always wish to come back for many times.

1. An Giang province

The land with jiggery trees scattered lonely but attractively on the fields; the land of the vast endless paddy fields in lush green; the land of fragrant, gentle sweet jiggery juice which is considered a remedy for refreshing you in the hot days of summer. An Giang is also the home to the famous melaleuca forest of Tra Su, That Son range of mountains, the exciting cow race and the peaceful and sparkling Khmer temples. An Giang is more attractive in floating season with images of sunset and sundown on the flooded fields.

2. Vung Tau city

I am interested in visiting the city on weekdays to see the slow pace life of a charming and gentle coastal city like others. I love to admire the ocean in peaceful blue, to let the hair fly on the air while running the motorbike on the pretty coastal road. I often drive to the Small Mountain (Nho Mountain) to watch for the Buddhist statue with outstretching hands from above.

3. 5 provinces in the Central Highland (Tay Nguyen):

Five provinces in Vietnam central highlands: Lam Dong, Dak Lak, Dak Nong, Kontum and Gia Lai.
The landscapes in the Central Highland are so majestic that make people feel small and lonely while standing there. No word is enough to describe the beauty of this land and my love to this region. It is bewitching from the slope, the winding pass, the proud waterfalls, the cool climate to the red dirt trail full of dirt, the ranges of wild flowers in blooms, especially the gorgeous wild sunflower. Whenever mention to Tay Nguyen, my foot cannot be calm but will be moving as if I could immediately come there.

Tay Nguyen - the crazy destination of Vietnam where to go. It's special by mountains, elephants and Ede.

4. Sa Dec Town (Dong Thap)

Coming to this city, I am really interested in the beloved combinations of landscapes like the one between the ancient temple constructions with flower garden and trees and rivers; or the traditional culture of Vietnamese people well blended with those of the Chinese living there.

5. Ha Tien (Kien Giang)

The city is really a pretty, gentle and peaceful land in the border with the neighbor country of Cambodia.

6. Ninh Thuan

I am into the images of the herd of sheep, the frame of grapefruit, the sea in deep and translucent blue, the ranges of mountains with strange rocks and stones. Coming to Ninh Thuan, you may fall in love without awareness of the reasons.

Ninh Thuan beach is wonderful with boats and emerald water.

7. Hanoi Capital – the first of list Vietnam where to go

Although have only a short trip to visit Hanoi in 3 days, I really love the capital. I love the ancient, quiet but still romantic and gentle beauty of this city. I love the flowers which are different by season including lily, lotus, and daisy and so on which beautify the city with their colors and fragrance. I am also interested in the ancient beauty at Duong lam Ancient Village with the everlasting constructions. I can forget the image of the vendors with their burdens on their shoulders on the streets of Hanoi.

8. Sa Pa Town (Sa Pa district, Lao Cai city)

I have paid visit to this land only 1 time, but the impression on the Sa Pa remain strong and clear in my mind. The first impression is on the name of Sa Pa which is mean the sand dune in the language of the H’mong. The impression is on the dew, cool and fresh air on all the lane. When I walked and saw Sa Pa, it makes me sometimes felt like living in a dream. I am also impressed by the H’mong people living here whose the colorful brocading clothes appear every corners and paths. Sa Pa H’mong can speak several different foreign languages at the same time to invite foreign visitors to buy the souvenirs. (Read more about H’mong brocade waving)

I have heard that commercialization is now clear in Sa Pa, which make this land less attractive in pristine beauty. However, I still wish to be able to one more time come back to the town to be immersed into the dreamlike feelings of the indifferent time when I was a student.

9. Hue city – ancient capital

Similar to Hanoi, I am interested in Hue for its ancient and romantic beauty. Hue is attractive for the dreamlike current in Huong River (Perfume River), the ancient temple of Thien Mu, Vi Da Village, which has been famous in poetry. The ancient capital is the mark for a prosperous period of time in the past with the system of temples and tombs. Hue is also famous for Nha Nhac Cung Dinh Hue (Hue royal music), which was recognized as the World’s intangible heritage in Vietnam.

Hue cuisine is one of the first reasons to come to this ancient capital.

Talking about cuisine, Hue’s dishes seem to be simple but are taken care of in a sophisticated way. For example, talking about salt, there are a dozen kinds of salt including fish salt, meat salt, cereal salt, fruit salt, sesame salt, peanut salt, pepper salt, chili salt and so on. Hue in my mind is also the green of pine tree or the rows of trees shading on Le Loi Street.

10. Hoi An Ancient Town – the most romantic place of list Vietnam where to go

Also in ancient beauty, but Hoi An does not place the feeling to be attached on me as Hanoi. The city is also not in quiet beauty as Hue, but the familiar, peaceful and intimate beauty that retain the foot of almost every people coming to the town. Hoi An is fascinating with the image of Hoai River and Thu Bon River reflecting the posture of trees and ancient houses on the shores. Other things here is the little lanes as well as the friendly locals. Good foods together with the peaceful and slow pace life are also the features contributing to an attractive Hoi An. One day in Hoi An Town, suggestion for tourist.

11. Thanh An Island (Ho Chi Minh City)

The active city of Ho Chi Minh possesses a pretty island of Thanh An with blue and calm ocean and enthusiastic people. The place is not so far from the bustle Saigon which can be a wonderful destination for relax at weekend to recover and refresh your mind and soul after the repeated hard working days.

Thanh An Island is near to Ho Chi Minh, you also visit Can Gio Forest.
