Where will you go in Kratie?
Kratie is a province in the northeast of Cambodia, adjacent to Stung Treng province to the north, Tbong Khmum and Binh Phuoc province to the south. Kratie town is located on Mekong River bank having calm flows, stunningly romantic scenery of many islands.
The main thing attracts tourists to Kratie is freshwater dolphins which are most rare in the world, Irrawaddy dolphin. Besides, when arriving Kratie, tourists can see French architecture works still preserved almost intact condition. In the evening, visitors can take a stroll around streets in Kratie to enjoy special dishes such as baked corn cake, dried buffalo meat, baked beef, etc.
Kratie town is a riverside town so tourists coming here will have pleasant experience such as watching beautiful landscapes on river banks and especially watch rare freshwater Irrawaddy dolphins. They can ship on river and wait for several smart dolphins flying out from water. According to statistics, there are only 66 dolphins now living in Mekong region in Cambodia. They are at high risk of extinction so it will be very valuable if you can see them with your own eyes.
Phnom Sambok Resort
Far about 11km from Kratie town, Phnom Sambok Resort is a nature resort in favorable position attracting many visitors. In particular, there is a mountain peak nearby here which is famous by many colorful birds and abundant plant cover. From top of mountain, visitors can see the marvelous scenery below and panoramic Mekong River.
Moving about 36 km far from the center of the town to the north, tourists can visit a 100 column pagoda in Sambor district. It was formally built on ancient Imperial Palace temple of Sam Phu Borak Capital, Chen La dynasty. It consists of four famous temples looking toward 4 directions namely Vihear Lao pagoda in the west, Vinhear Sar Sar pagoda in the north, Vinhear Kork Keut in the east and Vinhear Kork pagoda in the south.
